"No Man's Land," an installation of color photography and sculptural elements by Portland, Oregon-based artist Wendy Given presents two related bodies of work: A. hypogaea albus (peanut elves) and The Wilds. The images are conceptual constructions of portraits, places, landscapes and vignettes found in the ordinary world that are seldom noticed in daily experience. The photographs portray moments in time that possess otherworldliness — a “no man’s land” where humankind is peripheral to the scene.
"Superflowers," new photographs by Atlanta-based photographer Steve Aishman, on view in the gallery’s front space, is a photographic series of implausible floral bouquets.
Given will speak about her work on Saturday, October 18th at 2 p.m.; Aishman's artist talk will take place on Saturday, October 25th at 2p.m. The exhibition and artist talks are presented in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography.

Description:
On the eve of the 2008 Presidential election, Martha Rosler's multifaceted work will pose thought provoking questions in reference to one of the election’s most pivotal issues: the war in Iraq. This exhibition will be the juxtaposition of two similar but also different bodies of work across the span of decades, Bringing the War Home (1967-1972) and Bringing the War Home: House Beautiful, new series (2004). Produced as an outgrowth of Rosler's own involvement with anti-war activities, these photomontages are a response to the artist's "frustration with the images we saw in television and print media, even with anti-war flyers and posters. The images we saw were always very far away, in a place we couldn't imagine."
Featuring Martha Rosler in conversation with Emory faculty, Jason Francisco, Associate Professor of Visual Arts (Photography), and James Meyer, Winship Distinguished Associate Professor of Art History.
This is also the closing reception for Rosler's show at Emory.
