Atlanta photographer Ryan Flynn opens “No Posers,” his second solo show at Young Blood Gallery, as part of the 2011 Atlanta Celebrates Photography festival. The event is number 060 in the 2011 ACP festival guide. A reception for the exhibition takes place at Young Blood on Oct. 1 from 7-10 p.m. and it runs from Oct. 1-29.

In describing his series Flynn says, “The back yard ramp has played a vital part in skateboarding for over 30 years. No matter where in the world the ramp may be, there is seemingly always one general rule – no posers allowed.”

Chadwick Hagan and I recently had a chat with Sylvie Fortin, editor-in-chief of Art Papers, at Aurora Coffee in L5P, where she shared her insights on the role of the magazine and her perspective on Atlanta artists as well as the pluses and minuses of working in a “second tier” city.

Before joining Art Papers in 2004, Sylvie served as a curator, critic and historian. Her attention to detail and development of relationships has positioned this Atlanta organization as a global institution, known for its wide coverage of international markets and individual flair.
