Get This! Gallery presents the solo exhibition, SYNTHESIZ by Atlanta based artist Ben “Bean” Worley. This is Bean’s second solo exhibition with GT! The exhibition features new video work as well as prints based on stills from the featured videos.

The exhibition will also include a series of evening performances throughout the duration of the show. These will include music performances, DJ/parties and performance art events in which Bean will be doing live video mixing and projections to accompany the invited performers.

SYNTHESIZ fuses the binary roles of his personal and professional life with the historical precedent of film and art. Worley contextualizes his formal artistic training within a pop cultural experience that combines video, music and performance, transforming the analog materials he gathers into a contemporary digital medium. The transformative elements of Worley’s videos translate into the nature of the exhibit as a whole. The gallery will continually shift between both a formal viewing space and a music and events venue with every component synthesizing to create a unified visual experience giving the participant a view into the multifaceted nature of Worley’s work and background.

An exciting exhibit of contemporary prints will be on view in Atlanta from November 5 – December 3. This inaugural Atlanta Print Biennial, organized by the Atlanta Printmakers Studio, is an international juried exhibit of hand pulled prints and works on paper produced by renowned artists from around the world. The show is being hosted by Barbara Archer Gallery.

Atlanta Printmakers Studio is a non-profit organization, dedicated to teaching and promoting the art of printmaking. They are excited about this opportunity to bring the work of nationally and internationally recognized artists to Atlanta, as well as featuring local talent. The selected prints chosen from over 750 entries from the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan will be on display at Barbara Archer Gallery. The opening reception and awards ceremony is Saturday, November 5th from 6-9 p.m.

This year’s juror is Beth Grabowski, Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Art at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where she teaches printmaking and book arts. “I tried to select a balance of aesthetic approaches” says Grabowski, “so that the show would have variety and represent the range of good work being done in print.” She is co-author, with Bill Fick, of Printmaking, A Complete Guide to Materials and Processes. Her work has been represented widely in national and international venues, including recent exhibitions in China and Russia.

Juror Beth Grabowski will talk about the approach she took in making the selections and what about these prints makes them stand apart in a talk on Nov. 20 beginning at 2 p.m.
